WINTER 2025 WAIVER

WEEKLY UPDATE

Our final Sunday of the January 2025 season is in the books, and it could not have ended on a better note.  We had great weather, hockey nets and lots of smiles which is what it’s all about.  For the first two groups we went straight from the warmup into extended games and ended each one with a shootout.  As for our 12 and 1pm groups we ran a mini tournament which saw very balanced teams as all the games were decided by a few goals or less.

We would just like to thank everyone for such a great season and taking a chance on our league.  It was a pleasure working with your kids and we hope they all had a great experience.  Our next season starts on May 25th in the arena and we still have room if anyone is interested in continuing to play.  Stay safe everyone and have a great summer!

RECAPS

Black (D) vs White (D)

Although we were missing a few kids on our final Sunday it just meant more playing time for those that were there.  White got on the board first but Black responded with 2 of their own.  This woke up the sleeping giant as White scored 5 in a row before half to take a 6-2 lead. White was led by first star Mateo Aprile who tallied 4 times.  Second star Dane Pinto sniped twice while Isaac Oliver, Noah Gerofsky, Gianluca Giannetti, Francesco Cammara, Raphael Arsenault and Nathan Ing scored once.  In the second half, both teams scored twice but that’s all they could muster on the goalies as White took this one 8-4.  Ben Lawlor – 4G/30SH / Jackson Shepheard – 8G/30SH

Black (C) vs White (C)

Next up we had another good game with goalie Ben Lawlor getting the call-up and making his season debut in the C division.  White came out of the gates strong scoring 3 in a row before each team would tally a goal each before halftime.  In the second half, the tables would turn as Black would score 3 in a row while William Arsenault would shut the door.  First star Cecil Williams scored a hat trick while Matthew Ayotte was credited with a pair of goals.  Scoring singles were Jibrael Wasty (1G/1A), Jashan Dhaliwal and Mason Manuel.  Setting up some of those goals were Liam Fortes, Cam Williams and Clara Gibson.  This game would end in a 4-4 so we needed the shootout to determine a winner and the goalies were HOT stopping almost every shot they faced with only one goal being scored by White as they took it 5-4 in OT.  William Arsenault – 1G/31SH / Ben Lawlor – 7G/22SH

MINI TOURNEY

For the 12 & 1pm games we combined all the players and did our best to make three evenly balanced teams and run a mini 3 on 3 tourney with four 20 minute games.  Our first game saw White take down Yellow by a score of 5-3 which meant they stayed on the floor to play Black.  After a short break, White lost a close one goal decision to Black by a score of 5-4 which meant the loser from the first game would play the loser of the second game.  This meant White would stay on the floor for a third consecutive game, so they had to be getting tired.  Even so they mustered up enough energy to out last Yellow taken them down by a score of 10-6 which meant White would play Black in the Finals.  The final game was a very close affair that looked like it might go to overtime but Black would score a late goal to take the mini tourney 3-2.

Since Liam Nunn was unavailable Goaltender William Arsenault stuck around to play against his brother Theodore and the big boys and ended up being on the winning team.  Olivier Brisson was the standout player of the tourney scoring almost at will and a big reason why White played all four games.  Other standouts on the White team were Mederic Larente, Owen Amoli and goaltender Cormac Simmons as it is never easy playing that many games in a row.  Yellow was led by the other Brisson, Alexandre while Nash Clare showed his finishing ability.  Black was led by the shooting gallery of Tristan von Teichman and Leo Parsons.  There is no hiding in 3 on 3 hockey as everyone has to man up so congrats to all the players on giving it their all.

*** STARS OF EACH GAME ***

Although it is not all about stats, we want to introduce the kids to HTBHL so we are providing them with some of the same benefits the adult leagues enjoy.  For the 3 stars in the schedule portion of the website we will go mainly by points and numbers as we do in our adult leagues.  We will also highlight below players in each game that maybe didn't get a star but are good teammates, show good sportsmanship and work hard to improve and had a good week on the floor.

A/B – Alan Sadovskyy

C – Samuel Nordraven

D – Ben Box

GOALIE:  Ben Lawlor
