WEEKLY UPDATE
We had our last week of games at Franco before we move to the new location in two weeks. We had a couple close games, a mercy and the game between the two undefeated teams. Lumberjacks had a dominating win to keep their perfect record. Captains will receive more information by email with regards to the new location.
Reminder that all spares must complete the waiver link at the top of the page before playing. It is also the responsibility of each captain to ensure the game sheets are correct so please check in with the scorekeeper prior to the start of your games.
RECAPS
Jacking Lumber vs. Blackwater
Half the period went by before we had the first goal of the game. JKL were on the board first as captain Brady Reid’s shot from the point made it through traffic. BW did get the equalizer from newcomer Rodrigue Oligny. Score was tied at one a piece with shots 25-17 in favour of JKL. BW had a chance to take their first lead with a powerplay, but JKL killed it off to keep it tied. It was a low scoring one as both goalies were solid. JKL took another late period lead, but BW responded a minute later. Just when it seemed this one would need a shootout, JKL went to work and scored two goals with 1:02 left. BW were able to get one back, but the rest of the time ran out as JKL held on for 4-3 win.
JKL- Felix Boucher- 47 shots
BW- Guillaume Auger- 34 shots
Care vs. Panthers
Game two of the night was a close one until the end of the second. CA struck first with a shot from the slot. PAN went to work to steal the lead 2-1. Goals were traded on each side and at half we had a 4-3 game in favour of CA. On the opening faceoff in the second, PAN’s Matt Scharf sniped one from the point to even the score. Captain Steven Howlett followed up with his own as he caught the goalie off guard scoring 5hole. CA tied the game for the second time off a rebound with just over eleven minutes to go. PAN took the lead 6-5 before their PP goal from Alex Cousineau, which CA almost killed off. Down 7-5, CA ran out of time to get back in the game. Victor Howlett scored the last goal of the game as PAN took the 8-5 win.
CA- Mark Christopher- 33 shots
PAN- Felix Boucher- 28 shots
Wolfpack vs. Noel Properties
Both teams were heading into this one looking for their second win of the season. NP wasted no time as they had a 2-0 lead a few minutes into the game. WP’s goalie, Julien Duval, was the only reason this game didn’t finish early and the score remained somewhat close. WP were shutdown on their nine chances on net in the first while NP added two more before the end of the period to put the score at 4-0. Shots 23-9 after one. WP finally broke the shutout five minutes into the second as Chris Hamilton banked in his own rebound. NP’s Nick Plante responded with his second of the game off a wrist shot on the run in. Both teams increased their chances in the second period and WP won that half 3-2. It was too late for the comeback as NP finished with the 6-3 win.
WP- Julien Duval- 50 shots
NP- Josh Laurin- 24 shots
Honey Badgers vs. The Farm
Marshall strikes again… This game went as predicted as TF come out guns blazing every time they play, and HB were not ready for the heat. The first goal came just under two minutes in, and it was TF’s John Growe’s one timer from the slot. It created a pattern of teammate Nolan Marshall following up with two of his own back-to-back. That combo resulted in HB being down by seven before Sean Mullan got them on the scoreboard with his back door goal. It was a cat and mouse game as the mercy was pending. At half, the score was 11-3 despite shots almost even at 20-19. Marshall opened the second with his 7th goal of the game and teammate Jason Murfitt put the final nail in the coffin as the game finished 13-3 with just under 18 minutes still left on the clock.
HB- Al Villeneuve- 24 shots
TF- Russell Latham- 19 shots
Great Balls of Fire vs. Lumberjacks
Our last game featured the two undefeated teams. LBJ took a quick lead, but GBF responded instantly with a re-directed ball going top cheese. That was the closest the game was as LBJ’s scoring frenzy started a few minutes later. Captain Brent Stewart, who has been making his slow return from injury, led the way with a hat trick before the first buzzer. His teammates had a couple as well as the score was 6-1 at half with shots 28-13. GBF were looking for a way to get back into the game but couldn’t bury any of their chances. They had a powerplay early in the second, but LBJ scored short handed to put the score at 8-1. LBJ kept their momentum for the whole game as they added a couple more for the 10-1 victory.
GBF- Mathieu George- 52 shots
LBJ- Stephane Portelance- 24 shots
